A Solar Inspection is Not the Same Thing As a Home Inspection
Most home inspectors will write "solar panels present, appears operational" and move on. That sentence has cost buyers tens of thousands of dollars on this side of Florida. A general inspector is not a licensed solar contractor and is not going to pull the inverter cover, check the production data, look at the roof penetrations under the rails, or verify that the system is actually transferable to your name.
We are. David Scherich and Mike Kerr started Blue Energy Electric in Stuart in 2012, and we have been inspecting other people's solar work ever since. The inspection is free for home buyers because it is also how we meet the next generation of customers on the Treasure Coast. If everything checks out, we tell you so and walk away.
What you get: an on-site visit, a written report you can share with your agent, and a follow-up review from David or Mike before you sign anything.

What We Actually Look At
The on-site visit takes about 60 to 90 minutes depending on system size. We bring a ladder, a thermal camera, a multimeter, and the laptop with the manufacturer portals open. The written report covers:
-
Production check against the seller's last 12 months of FPL bills
-
Inverter health, error codes, and remaining warranty
-
Panel-level monitoring data if the system has microinverters
-
Roof attachment points, flashing, and any active leaks below
-
Rail and clamp condition (we see a lot of corrosion within five miles of the coast)
-
Whether the system is grounded and rapid-shutdown compliant
-
Permit history pull from the county building department
-
Warranty transferability per manufacturer
-
A plain-language repair list with priorities and rough costs
If the system is good, you close with confidence. If it is not, you have something concrete to take back to the seller during your inspection period.
Four Counties. One Number To Call.
We work the same area we have always worked: Martin, St. Lucie, Palm Beach, and Indian River counties. That means our trucks are usually within an hour of your closing address. It also means we know the local permit offices, the FPL service planners, and the HOA architectural review chairs by name. That part actually matters when something needs to be untangled before closing.
Pick the page that fits your county and read what we look for in your specific area. Each market has different roof types, different storm exposure, and different system age profiles, so the inspection emphasis shifts.
Pick Your County
Martin County
(Stuart, Palm City, Hobe Sound, Jensen Beach) Older established neighborhoods, mixed roof ages, hurricane history that still shows up under the rails. Read more about solar inspections in Martin County.
Palm Beach County
(WPB, Jupiter, Wellington, Boca Raton, Palm Beach Gardens) Coastal corrosion, larger arrays, and HOA review boards. Warranty transfer is where the money is here. Read more about Palm Beach County solar inspections.
St. Lucie County
(Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, Tradition, Verano) Heavy new construction and builder-installed solar. We see a lot of underspec inverters and missing net-metering paperwork. Read more about St. Lucie County solar inspections.
Indian River County
(Vero Beach, Sebastian, Fellsmere) Tile roofs, snowbird-era systems, and quieter scheduling windows. Often the simplest fixes save the most. Read more about Indian River County solar inspections.

Why A Local Owner-Operator And Not A National Chain
Most solar inspections offered "for free" by other companies are sales calls dressed up. The technician shows up, finds something wrong, and a closer calls you that night.
We are licensed in Florida for solar (CVC56991), electrical (EC13014796), and as of April 2026, certified roofing (CCC1337565, qualifier David Anthony Scherich). You can verify any of those at the Florida DBPR license portal. When you call, our office manager Gabi Baker picks up and routes you to David or Mike directly. We do not have closers. We do not run a call center. If your existing system is fine, we will tell you it is fine, and you can keep our number for the day you eventually need solar maintenance or repair.
Founded 2012. 14 years on the Treasure Coast. Over 7 million watts installed. Zero subcontracted installs.

What Your South Florida Neighbors Are Saying

Martin Loynd
Yay Blue Energy Electric to the rescue! We have had a terrible experience with the original installer of our solar panels and could not get them to return calls or provide service… Blue Energy immediately answered my call and knew exactly what was needed to fix the problem . Very professional and committed to Resolve issues. Gabi was most helpful and was able to answer all my concerns over the phone. The repair cost was reasonable. The work completed as promised.

I was really pleased with the job that Blue Energy Electric did for me on my solar panel installation repair. I had a really bad experience with the company that originally installed it and was worried that I would not be able to have the work covered by warranty without going back to them. Dave from Blue Energy Electric came and took a look and sorted out everything and he managed to do so under that same warranty without an extra charge to me. He was professional, friendly and efficient but most importantly completely honest and trustworthy, something I was not used to in previous dealings with the solar company that installed my solar system. I cannot give this company a higher recommendation. Job well done thank you!!!
